Ron Hnetkovsky, 78, a resident of Channahon and formerly of Elwood and Wilton Center, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at Ascension St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet.
Ron worked for Stepan Company in Elwood until his retirement, then worked part-time as a driver for Kurtz Memorial Chapel. He enjoyed participating in area tractor rides on his Farmall H and attending farm toy shows with his friends. Ron enjoyed camping and traveling across the United States, highlighted by his trip to Alaska. He also looked forward to spending time with his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was the loving husband of Barbara (Becker) Hnetkovsky; father of beloved daughters, Deanna Hnetkovsky and Donna (Chester) Naleway; cherished grandfather of Alex Hauschild, Ariana (Kurtis) Michelfelder, Ryan (Jackie) Phelan, Abigail Hauschild, Connor (Karen) Phelan, Arick Hauschild, Chester (Aimee) Naleway, and Mitchell Naleway; proud great-grandfather of Anastasia Michelfelder, Peyton Phelan, and Alec Naleway; brother of William (Janet) Hnetkovsky; and is survived by many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, George and Ruth (Upp) Hnetkovsky.
A funeral service was held on January 6, at Kurtz Memorial Chapel in New Lenox, with private interment. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
