The City of Hickory Hills has been recognized and awarded for completing the EV Readiness Program. The Program involves government initiatives that streamline EV guidelines, expand for EVs, and accommodate best charging practices.
Mayor Mike Howley and city Clerk Joe Stachnik brought home several plaques from the Metropolitan Mayors Caucus Ceremony, held on Friday, August 23, at the Argonne National Laboratory.
Hickory Hills was among 11 other cities/villages recognized through the EV Readiness Program, a collaboration between the Caucus and ComEd. The City’s current EV charging stations for residents and businesses help the city move toward a clean energy future.
During the City’s meeting on Thursday, September 26, Stachnik shared the City’s impressive accomplishments. Hickory Hills was recognized with the EV Ready Community award at the Bronze Level and received special recognition plaques for a government unit that is ‘Small But Mighty’ and ‘First to Finish,’ these accolades were earned ahead of other prominent government departments, including the City of Chicago, DuPage County, Kane County, Aurora, and Elgin, and for its role and support of constituents and businesses who contribute to economic growth and EV transportation.
Stachnik shared the tedious aspects, nine months actually, “A lot of these government units have dedicated teams to specifically this application/project working on this, and we boiled it down, with the help of Mary Esposito,” He said. Esposito, The Executive Secretary of Hickory Hills, was said to have attended every single one of the meetings that contributed to receiving one award; Stachnik added, “A special thank you, Mary.”
