The Hamilton B. Maher Community Center was transformed into a whimsical woodland as the Village of Evergreen Park hosted its second annual Adult Prom, inviting residents 55 and older to step into an “Enchanted Forest” for an evening of dancing, desserts and nostalgia.
The event, hosted by the Village’s Office of Citizens’ Services, took place Thursday, May 7 at 3450 W. 97th St.

Organizers said the goal was simple: bring back a little prom-night magic.
“We were excited to bring this event back,” said Beth Novotney, director of the Office of Citizens’ Services. “Last year’s event was a tremendous success, with guests dancing and enjoying themselves throughout the evening. This event was special because it allowed people to feel young again and enjoy themselves with their friends.”
Guests enjoyed a festive evening featuring food, beverages, desserts and plenty of music that kept the dance floor busy. The “Enchanted Forest” theme set the tone, with attendees dressing up, socializing and reliving, or experiencing for the first time, a classic prom night atmosphere.
While high school proms are often remembered for teenagers and awkward slow dances, Evergreen Park’s version offered something different: celebration without the stress and nostalgia without the homework.
Officials said the event continued to grow in popularity as a chance for older adults to connect with neighbors, socialize and enjoy an evening designed just for them.
For some, it was a second chance at prom. For others, it was simply a good excuse to dance.
