Dale A. Andrews, a chef and Chicago restaurant owner known for his southern hospitality and creative approach to food, died. He was 67.
Andrews was a lifelong Chicago resident who built his restaurant business on a philosophy of welcoming customers like family. Colleagues and friends described him as a determined leader and generous mentor.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Donna M. (née Verzak) Andrews; four children, Lyndsy Galitsky, Nicholas Andrews, Eric Andrews and Tyler Andrews; and four grandchildren, Nevaeh, Gabriella, Lillyan and Arlie.
His parents, Arlie and Josephine (née Gomm) Andrews, preceded him in death. He is also survived by his sister, Linda Helgesen.
A visitation will be held Monday, May 18, from 2 to 8 p.m. at Richard Midway Funeral Home, 5749 Archer Ave., with a funeral prayer service at 6:30 p.m., officiated by Fr. Bob Regan. For information, call 773-767-1840.
