The Orland Park Police Department will have a couple of new tenants as the Illinois State Police will occupy two cubicles inside the police station at 151st Street and Ravinia Drive to assist in reconstructing fatal traffic accidents on nearby interstates.
“This is a benefit for us,” said Village Manager George Koczwara. “It’s a win-win. The Illinois State Police already works with us and we (work) with them. They were looking for office space along I-80 and we just happened to have some office space we can share .”
Orland Park Police Chief Eric Rossi said Illinois State Police will be part of an inter-agency satellite office where two officers will work. Rossi said state police were “looking for office space near Interstate 80.” He said the village’s police department already works in concert with the FBI, DEA and the Secret Service. “This makes sense.”
State troopers will be in the office two to three days a week.
Trustee Bill Healy said he liked the two agencies working in concert.
“I think this (sharing of space) is a great idea,” Healy said. “I’m happy to hear that the village is working in partnership with the Illinois State Police to share resources.”
