Sarah Abdelhadi will step into a new leadership role this summer as principal of Ridge Central School in Chicago Ridge School District 127.5, following a leadership transition earlier this school year.
The school board accepted the resignation of Principal Katy King in December, creating the vacancy Abdelhadi will fill when she begins in July.
Abdelhadi, currently assistant principal at Columbus Manor School in Oak Lawn, said she is honored to join a district recognized for its strong student body, dedicated staff and supportive community.

“This will be my first role in District 127.5, and I am truly honored to join a district known for its strong student body, dedicated staff, supportive community and exceptional leadership,” Abdelhadi said. “I look forward to collaborating with colleagues and continuing to build upon the strong foundation already established at Ridge Central.”
A Tinley Park resident, Abdelhadi lives with her husband, Morad, and their two children, Omar and Yesmeen.
Her academic path began at Moraine Valley Community College, where she earned an associate degree, followed by a bachelor’s degree in education from Saint Xavier University. She later earned two master’s degrees from the University of St. Francis — one in special education and the other in educational leadership.
Much of Abdelhadi’s professional experience has been rooted in special education, a background she said will help guide her approach as a school leader.
“At the start of my leadership career, I set out with a clear goal: to serve as a representative voice for all students, staff and members of the community,” she said. “I have remained committed to ensuring that every stakeholder not only supports this vision but also plays an active role in bringing it to life.”
Looking ahead to the 2026–27 school year, Abdelhadi said her top priority will be building strong relationships across the school community.
“My primary goal for the 2026–2027 school year is to build strong, meaningful relationships with students, parents, staff and the broader community,” she said. “I am committed to fostering an open and welcoming environment where everyone has the opportunity to get to know one another and play an active role in our shared success.”
The role also carries personal significance for Abdelhadi, who has deep ties to the Chicago Ridge area.
“The Chicago Ridge community holds a special place in my heart,” she said. “My grandparents lived in the area, and several members of my family proudly served in the local police department. This opportunity is especially meaningful to me, and I am excited to make Ridge Central and District 127.5 my home away from home.”
