Jan Rybka-Zabawski, a longtime Chicago area resident, died March 29, 2026. He was 91.
He is survived by three children: Jasia Johnson, Margaret Maka and Bronislawa Dlugopolska; seven grandchildren: Michael, Paulina, Mariola, Joanne, Tommy, Christopher and Matthew; eight great-grandchildren: Natalia, Lucas, Deegan, Avery, Nicolas, Mia, Luca and Francesca; and six siblings: Bronislawa, Helena, Anna, Zosia, Wladyslaw and Andrzej. He was preceded in death by his wife, Czeslawa Rybka, and his parents, Bronislawa and Stanislaw Rybka-Zabawski.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 1, from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Damar-Kaminski Funeral Home & Crematorium, 7861 S. 88th Ave., Justice, Illinois.
A funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, April 1, at 11:30 a.m. at Saint Fabian Church, 7450 W. 83rd St., Bridgeview, Illinois. Prayers and a procession will begin at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m.
Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery in Justice, Illinois.
