Adam Ptak, a machinist and woodworker who emigrated from Poland after World War II, died April 4, 2026, in Oak Lawn, Illinois. He was 86.
He is survived by his wife, Stella Ptak; six children: Joanna, Wojtek, Mark, Ewa, Gosia and Krysia; 17 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family members. He was born Sept. 1, 1939, in Glinna, Poland.
Ptak was known for his skill as a craftsman and his devotion to family. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, dancing and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 8, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Damar-Kaminski Funeral Home & Crematorium, 7861 S. 88th Ave., Justice, Illinois.
A funeral Mass will be held Thursday, April 9, at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 8245 W. 111th St., Palos Hills, Illinois. Prayers and a procession will begin at the funeral home at 8:45 a.m.
Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery in Justice, Illinois.
