Orland Park police arrested two men within five days in March after recovering loaded handguns during routine traffic stops, authorities said.
Both men were pulled over for heavily tinted windows — a violation that led officers to discover firearms neither man was licensed to carry.
In the first incident, Hesham Daoud, 19, of the 15200 block of El Cameno Terrace, was arrested March 8 near 151st Street and LaGrange Road. Officers stopped his vehicle around 9 p.m. for tinted windows and a missing front license plate.
During the stop, police found a Glock 9 mm handgun with two live rounds in the magazine on the backseat floor. Officers also recovered vape products from the center console.
Daoud was charged with unlawful use of a weapon. Police said he did not have a valid Firearm Owner’s ID card or a concealed carry license. He was also cited for unlawful use of tobacco products.
Four days later, Percy Harrington III, of the 500 block of 158th Street in South Holland, was arrested March 12 near 159th Street and Harlem Avenue after a similar stop for tinted windows.
When officers approached Harrington’s vehicle, they smelled cannabis and saw smoke pouring from the driver’s window. Police recovered a loaded Glock 45 with one round in the chamber and a magazine in his waistband.
Harrington was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a firearm. He was given a warning for the tinted windows violation.
