With baskets in hand and excitement in the air, dozens of children dashed across Town Square Park on Saturday, turning a sunny spring gathering in Palos Hills into a lively scramble for colorful eggs during a free community Easter egg hunt.
Families gathered at Town Square Park on Saturday for the free event, which began at noon and continued rain or shine. Jerry Bennett was in attendance and led the countdown to the start of the egg hunt, helping kick off the festivities.
Youngsters 10 and under were invited to participate in the hunt, which was divided into four age groups: 0-3, 4-5, 6-7 and 8-10. Organizers said some of the eggs contained prizes, adding an extra layer of excitement as children searched the park grounds.
A costumed Easter Bunny also greeted attendees and posed for photos with children and families, creating a popular photo opportunity throughout the event.
The event was free to attend and did not require registration. Participants were encouraged to bring their own baskets or bags to collect eggs.
