Thousands of brightly colored eggs vanished within minutes Saturday morning as families packed the baseball fields at Centennial Park for Orland Park’s annual Lucky Egg Hunt.

The event unfolded at the park, 15600 West Ave., where children dashed across the grass in designated age groups, quickly scooping up eggs filled with candy and small prizes. Village officials scattered roughly 20,000 eggs across the fields, a number that proved no match for the eager crowds.

Children were separated by age to ensure a safe and fair experience, with younger participants given their own space to hunt while older children searched nearby. Parents lined the sidelines, snapping photos as baskets filled in a matter of moments.

Aside from the many eggs with smaller prizes and treats, some contained Lucky and Golden tickets, which winners could redeem for prizes, adding an extra layer of excitement to the event. Additional prizes were available for pickup at the Orland Park Sportsplex, 11351 W. 159th St., during designated hours in the days following the event.

Some eggs also contained tickets redeemable for a free item at Rainbow Cone, giving a handful of participants an extra sweet reward.

The Easter Bunny made an appearance during the hunt, posing for photos and greeting families as the morning unfolded, continuing a tradition that has become a seasonal highlight for the community.
