Leona V. “Tootsie” Sheppard, of Chicago’s Garfield Ridge community, died Friday, March 20, 2026, surrounded by family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas W. Sheppard (Chicago Fire Department).
Survivors include children Sandy (Al), Kevin (Josie), David (Nancy) and William (Michelle); nine grandchildren including Kerry, Katie, Kimberly, Justin, Brandon, Kevin Jr., Nikki, Jessi and Bill Jr.; two great-grandchildren Emma and Quinn; siblings Ginny, Greg and Sue; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by siblings Annie, Bill Herky and Eva.
Visitation will be held Monday, March 23, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Foran Funeral Home, 7300 W. Archer Ave., Summit.
Visitation will continue Tuesday from 9 a.m. until service at 10:30 a.m., followed by procession to Resurrection Cemetery, where Ms. Sheppard will be laid to rest next to her husband Thomas.
