Verna Johnson, 58, of the 4900 block of Arquilla Dr., Richton Park, was charged with retail theft March 6 after police said she placed a wallet inside a leather purse and paid for the purse but not the wallet from Von Maur. She was given a $250 fine and a lifetime ban from Von Maur.
In a second incident, Anthony Tyson, 44, of the 200 block of West 138th Street, Dolton, was charged with retail theft March 10 after police said he stole clothing, deodorant, body spray, and alcohol from Target, 15850 W. 94th Ave.
Police said Tyson took two baseball caps, two packs of socks, a pack of underwear, sandals, sweatpants, a sweatshirt, a jacket, deodorant, body spray, and alcohol before fleeing the store. Police caught Tyson as he was running in the parking lot. Tyson was given a lifetime ban from Target.
