The biggest raffle prize at the Palos Heights Woman’s Club’s Breakfast at Tiffany’s-themed fundraiser on March 21 was a $3,000 Tiffany necklace.
The knot-styled necklace was advertised as “an expression of love’s unwavering bonds inspired by an archival bow crafted in 1889. It’s a symbol of life’s most enduring times and meaningful connections.”
Which is appropriate because since 1938, the club has been fostering meaningful connections.
Hundreds gathered for the fundraiser, held in the Orchard Room of the Palos Heights Recreation Center. Many wore black dresses in the spirit of Audrey Hepburn and the film “Breakfast at Tiffany’s.”

Before the breakfast started, it was a bit humorous to see the clientele in the Rec Center’s lobby. Youth basketball players in their uniforms who were waiting to use the gym were mixed in with the women dressed to the nines waiting for the breakfast to start.
The event featured breakfast, a chance to bid on gift baskets and an appearance by Lesie Goddard, who portrayed Hepburn during the event.
“We have beautiful baskets donated by the members and area merchants,” Woman’s Club official Carol Mineur said. “The food was prepared by Royalberry. They support us so much. We can’t say enough.”
Another club official, Rose Zubik said the necklace, donated by Tiffany’s in Oak Brook, was a hit.
“It grew a life of its own,” Zubik said. “We’re grateful to Tiffany’s for donating the necklace. It’s stunning. It’s phenomenal the amount of people who have purchased these tickets.”
Money from the fundraiser goes to scholarships for area students as well as vetted area charitable organizations. It usually garners a few thousand dollars a year.
“Raising money is important but we are all about engaging with people and making new friends,” board member Denise Hyker said. “We hope to get some women to come and see how much fun we have.”
