A Calumet City man was arrested Feb. 24 after police say he stole nearly $425 worth of merchandise from Macy’s at Orland Square, including a $299 jacket he walked out with without paying.
Christian J. Robinson, 21, was charged with retail theft. When Loss Prevention stopped him inside the store, he refused to give his name, claiming the FBI was after him. Police identified him through fingerprints.
Loss Prevention officials at the Macy’s on Orland Square Drive called police after Robinson became uncooperative, according to the police report.
When officers asked for his name, Robinson refused, saying “the FBI was out to get him,” the report states. Police identified him only after taking his fingerprints.
Surveillance video showed Robinson taking multiple items without paying, including a $299 jacket, according to the report. The total value of merchandise taken was $425.
Robinson was arrested and transported to the Bridgeview Courthouse for a detention hearing.
