Marie Arrigoni

Longtime Palos Park Clerk Marie Arrigoni resigned from her post.

Mayor Nicole Milovich-Walters made the announcement on Feb. 23 during the village council meeting at the Kaptur Center.

Milovich-Walters said that Arrogoni, who has been absent from meetings in recent months, is leaving for personal reasons.

The mayor said a new clerk will be appointed in the coming weeks.

In Arrigoni’s absence, Deputy Clerk Lisa Boyle performed the clerk’s duties during the council meetings. However, Boyle is a member of the village’s staff thus will not be considered to be Arrigoni’s replacement.

Milovich-Walters said the village will miss Arrigoni.

“For nearly 15 years, Marie has been a steady and dependable presence in the village,” Milovich-Walters said. “Her service to this community extends far beyond her role as clerk.”

The mayor said that Arrigoni founded and coordinated the Palos Park Senior Club for more than 12 years. She spent 26 years as a director and activity coordinator for the Oak Lawn Senior Center.

“Her dedication to enhancing senior programming and improving the quality of life has been a consistent thread throughout her career,” the mayor said.

Arrigoni also spent time as a member of the Palos Park Women’s Club and Palos Park Garden Guild. She has volunteered at Palos Northwestern Hospital and Brookfield Zoo.

“Marie is also a devoted mother and grandmother and we know her family is incredibly proud of the example she has set through a lifetime of service,” Milovich-Walters said.

Although 2026 is just two months old, there is some big movement within the village with Arrigoni stepping down and Village Manager Rick Boehm announcing in January that he was going to retire after 16 years of service.

Sanders lauded

Milovich-Walters spent a portion of the meeting giving praise to the Center’s Executive Director, Dave Sanders.

“Personally, for years I was a girl scout leader and every year Dave would make sure we learned how to camp because my tent-building skills are not so great,” she and we were truly grateful.

“Beyond that, Dave has always been there for the village.”

She said the past three years, the Center was open to the village for Arbor Day celebrations and brought animals to the Autumn in the Park festival. He also provided hayrides during the village’s tree lighting ceremony during the holidays.

“What stands out most is that he is a very humble guy,” the mayor said. “He has never felt too important or too good to roll up his sleeves. If something needs to be done, he shows up.”
