With the start of Lent, Friday nights in Oak Lawn once again mean fish, family and fellowship at Stony Creek Golf Course.

The Oak Lawn Park District has announced the return of its popular Friday Night Fish Fry at Stony Creek Golf Course, 5850 W. 103rd St., offering a refreshed menu just in time for the season when many Catholics abstain from meat on Fridays.

The fish fries began on Friday, Feb. 20, and will continue each Friday through April 3. Dining hours are 3 to 7 p.m. Guests can dine in the course’s newly updated dining room, designed to provide a relaxed setting for families, friends and neighbors gathering during the Lenten season.

Throughout Lent, the 40-day period of reflection and preparation leading up to Easter, churches, community groups and local venues host fish dinners that bring people together at the end of the workweek.

This year’s Stony Creek menu features both cod and perch options. The Captain’s Perch Dinner includes two pieces of ocean perch fried to a golden brown and served with a baked potato, coleslaw and macaroni and cheese, along with access to an unlimited soup and salad bar.

Other offerings include a fish sandwich, fish and chips, and a signature cheeseburger for those not observing the Lenten tradition. Starters, side dishes, children’s meals and dessert options are also available.
