Capuano

A Palos Heights woman was charged with stalking after sending more than 200 threatening voicemails this month to the Palos Heights Police Department.

Kate Capuano, of the 13400 block of Westview Drive in Palos Heights, was identified as the person who made the calls and left the voicemails, police said.

On February 2, investigators were notified that an individual had flooded the department’s non-emergency telephone line with a high volume of calls and voicemails containing harassing and threatening language.

Officers reviewed more than 225 voicemails. A Police Department administrator was the primary focus of the communications. The messages included veiled threats, and investigators documented a history of similar harassing calls directed at the department. On multiple prior occasions, the individual had also threatened harm toward the department.

Further investigation identified related social media posts and numerous emails consistent in tone and content.

The individual had previously been advised that continued harassing or threatening communications could result in arrest for Harassment by Electronic Means.

Following a comprehensive investigation, officers submitted reports and recorded evidence for review by the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office Felony Review Division.

After review and approval of charges, Capuano was charged with one felony count of stalking.
