Graduates of Evergreen Park Community High School will soon have a rare chance to reconnect with classmates and meet fellow Mustangs spanning seven decades.
That opportunity arrives Feb. 28, when the school hosts its all-school reunion at 115 Bourbon Street in nearby Merrionette Park. The event, typically held only once every five years, is open to alumni from every graduating class.
This year’s gathering carries added significance as EPCHS marks its 70th anniversary. Organizers expect alumni ranging from members of the school’s first graduating Class of 1958 to the most recent Class of 2025 to attend.
“It’s not often you can stand in the same room with graduates from 1958 and 2025 and realize you all share the same roots,” said Dr. Jolie Burns-Casey, a member of the Class of 1987 and part of the EPCHS Foundation’s reunion planning committee.
The evening promises more than handshakes and hugs. Thousands of photographs spanning the school’s seven decades will be on display, offering snapshots of classrooms, athletic teams, homecomings and everyday moments that shaped generations of students.
A free tour of the high school is planned earlier in the day, giving alumni a chance to revisit familiar hallways and classrooms. Alumni interested in participating are asked to contact Burns-Casey by email at jolieburnscasey@gmail.com.
“The tour will be such a nice way to walk down memory lane,” Burns-Casey said.
The reunion will run from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, at 115 Bourbon Street, 3359 W. 115th St., Merrionette Park. Pre-sale tickets are $60 and available through Feb. 13. Admission includes a four-hour buffet and open bar.
