Maria Guadalupe Ybarra, affectionately known as Lupita, passed away Feb. 8, 2026, at the age of 40.
Born Nov. 12, 1985, in Chicago, Lupita was the beloved daughter of Carlos N. Ybarra and Maria G. Renteria. She was a cherished sister to Sandra, Patty and Laura. Their bond was strengthened by the love, laughter and unintentional humor she brought to every family gathering.
Lupita worked as an ophthalmic technician, where she found special joy in caring for her elderly patients. She treasured conversations that brought comfort and lightened their day. Colleagues and patients alike will remember her dedication, compassion and warm spirit.
Known for her generosity, Lupita was always ready to help, often giving more of herself than anyone expected. Her infectious, boisterous laugh was unmistakable to those who loved her. She had a thoughtful nature and delighted in creating personalized, sentimental gifts that made others feel seen and cherished.
Lupita loved road trips and traveling, eagerly planning each new adventure. She enjoyed cruising with classic rock playing and took pride in organizing trips that brought loved ones closer together. She carefully documented those moments through photographs, leaving behind a treasure trove of memories. Among her favorite destinations was New Mexico, where she admired the mountain landscapes and once dreamed of living.
In her everyday life, Lupita enjoyed long drives playing Pokémon Go, a pastime she shared with her partner, Mike. Together they turned ordinary days into meaningful memories, treasuring quiet evenings and shared laughter. Their love was evident in the small moments they created side by side.
Lupita made the world brighter with her kindness, humor and love. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who knew her.
Visitation will be held Saturday, Feb. 14, 2026, from 3:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Damar-Kaminski Funeral Home & Crematorium, 7861 S. 88th Ave., Justice, Illinois.
A service and time of remembrance will take place Saturday, Feb. 14, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Cremation rites will be accorded.
