Mieczyslaw “Mietek” Krol passed away on February 6, 2026, surrounded by his loving family in Oak Forest. Born August 6, 1953, in Poland, Mietek lived a life defined by hard work, faith and devotion to his family.
He was the beloved husband of Wladyslawa Krol. Loving father of Anna (Walenty) Scurek and Jacek (Malgorzata) Krol. Proud grandfather of Marek (Wioleta) Krol, Edyta (Piotr) Zygmunt, Caroline Scurek, Patrick Scurek and Filip Krol.
Mietek completed his education at Zespol Szkol Zawodowych w Lezajsku. He worked as a construction worker, butcher and maintenance worker, known for his strong work ethic and skilled hands. He especially enjoyed taking on home projects, often working alongside his son-in-law, Walenty.
A devout Christian, Mietek’s faith guided him throughout his life. He found joy in fishing, walking his dog, reading the newspaper, solving crosswords and watching soccer. He loved spending time outdoors and took pride in smoking meats and sharing meals with family. Nothing made him happier than watching his grandchildren grow and sharing stories from his life.
He will be remembered for his gentle spirit, warm smile and unwavering love for his family. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 11, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Damar-Kaminski Funeral Home & Crematorium, 7861 S. 88th Avenue, Justice, Illinois.
Funeral services will take place Thursday, February 12, 2026, at 3:45 p.m., with family and friends asked to gather directly at the Benedictine Sisters of Our Lady of Sorrows Priory, 5900 W. 147th Street, Oak Forest, Illinois, for a 4:00 p.m. Mass.
Cremation rites will be accorded with private interment in Poland.
