Alison D. Vinci, a devoted volunteer and active band parent at Argo Community High School, died Friday, February 6. She was 59.

The cause was complications from surgery, according to her family.

Mrs. Vinci had been a fixture in the school community for years, volunteering across multiple schools including Brodnicki, Wilkins, Argo Community High School and Lewis University supporting her daughters’ education through high school and college. She was known for her generous involvement in school activities and her commitment to her family.

“It is with great sadness that we share the passing of a member of our Argo Community,” Argo Community High School said in a statement to staff and on its social media pages. Mrs. Alison Vinci, a dedicated and active band parent, passed away last week. Our thoughts are with the entire Vinci family.”

Born September 5, 1966, in Lebanon, Indiana, Alison Scott attended Zionsville High School, where she performed in the Color Guard and served as the Eagles mascot before graduating in 1985. She went on to Ball State University, where she earned an associate degree in business and was a member of Delta Sigma Kappa Social Sorority.

She worked in the insurance industry for Prudential Insurance in Indianapolis and Oak Brook before leaving the workforce in 2006 to raise her family.

Mrs. Vinci met her husband, Joe “Stretch” Vinci, in June 1993 during a houseboat trip on Lake Shafer with mutual friends. They married October 7, 1995, in Indianapolis and later moved to Hickory Hills.

She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Kimberly and Kristi; her siblings, Sharon Hine and Brad Scott; and six nieces and nephews.

A visitation is scheduled for Friday, February 13, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Damar-Kaminski Funeral Home & Crematorium, 7861 S. 88th Avenue, Justice, Illinois. A funeral service will be held Saturday, February 14, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Cremation Rites to be accorded.
