Zbigniew “Ziggy” Kuchyt, a cherished husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2026, in Oak Lawn, Illinois, at the age of 75.

Born on March 26, 1950, in the village of Zabawa, Poland, Ziggy immigrated to the United States in 1974, where he built a life rooted in hard work, dedication and family. He was the beloved husband of 52 years to Josephine Kuchyt (née Slysz) and a devoted father to Christopher (Kristin) Kuchyt and Richard (Lisa) Kuchyt. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Nicole, Tyler, Hailey and Ashley, who will forever cherish their “Dziadziu.” He is also survived by his brother, Josef Kuchyt, and sister-in-law, Malgorzata.

Ziggy spent decades working as a Maintenance Engineer specializing in heating and air conditioning, earning the respect of colleagues for his skill, reliability and problem-solving ability. Known for being able to fix nearly anything, his workshop was a place of wonder where broken items were given new life—much to the amazement of his grandchildren.
