Police responding to an altercation between two Amazon delivery drivers said they charged one with assault and possession of a controlled substance.
The incident occurred just after 3 p.m. on January 4 near Waterside Circle. Police said two Amazon drivers were engaged in a verbal altercation in the middle of the street.
One of the drivers, Willie Bush, 31, of the 8200 block of South Washtenaw Avenue, Chicago, allegedly pointed a gun at the other delivery driver during the altercation and then fled the scene in his white Amazon van, police said.
Bush was stopped a short time later and gave police permission to search his vehicle for the gun. No weapon was found, police said.
However, police did find a 10 gram bag of “Powdered Dog” cannabis, which was confiscated because it was not being transported legally inside a vehicle and because it was not from an Illinois dispensary.
Bush told police he was instructed by dispatch to leave multiple packages at the location on Waterside Circle for the other delivery driver to pick up. He said he did not know who the driver was but told her she had to take the packages and put them inside her van.
He admitted there was an argument between the two but denied anything ever got physical, police said. Bush also stated he did not have a firearm, police said.
Police spoke to a neighbor who heard the verbal altercation between the two drivers and told police she heard Bush state: “I’ll blow your (blanking) head off.” (She told police that she did not see any firearm.)
