The Red Robin restaurant in Orland Park will permanently close Jan. 25, ending years of service at a familiar dining spot for residents of Orland Park and surrounding southwest suburban communities.

The closure was confirmed through signs posted at the restaurant and recent news reports and is part of a broader effort by Red Robin Gourmet Burgers Inc. to downsize underperforming locations as it works to improve its financial outlook.

Longtime customers recently noticed a sign taped to the door detailing the somber announcement. A photo of the notice, shared in a local Facebook thread, quickly circulated among area residents.

“Attention all respected guests: thank you for being here,” the sign read. “We are better for you being here. We regret to inform you that this location, Red Robin Orland Park #478, will be closing its doors as of January 25, 2026, at 8:00 pm.”

The message also conveyed staff dissatisfaction with the decision, highlighting the emotional impact of the shutdown on employees as well as customers.

Reaction from the community has been swift and emotional. On social media, patrons shared memories of family dinners, birthday celebrations and post-event meals, expressing disappointment and sadness over the loss of what many described as a reliable neighborhood gathering place.

The Orland Park restaurant, located at 15503 LaGrange Rd., is among several Illinois Red Robin locations that have closed or announced closures, including Plainfield and Bolingbrook. The moves reflect a wider trend for the casual dining chain, which has faced financial pressures in recent years tied to rising operating costs, changing consumer habits and increased competition.

Company officials have said the closures are part of a restructuring strategy designed to focus on stronger-performing restaurants and stabilize long-term operations.

The Orland Park Red Robin is expected to remain open through the evening of Jan. 25, giving customers a final opportunity to dine there before the doors close for good.

  1. Good they treated my family like we weren’t even there. We left after sitting for 30min and no server approached our table.

  2. They were very overpriced. I don’t appreciate paying at my table through a compute! I do not go out very often for fast food and our waitress came to our table to take our order, deliver it. The salmon was awful! I can’t believe the prices
