Palos Heights police charged two Chicago men with drunken driving earlier this month after they were stopped for traffic violations.

Ramon Lewis, 30, of the 8500 block of South Cregier Avenue, was stopped at 3:05 a.m. Jan. 3 for going 79 mph in a 40-mph zone in the 6400 block of College Drive, police said.

A subsequent investigation revealed Lewis showed signs of impairment, police said.

He was charged with DUI, aggravated speeding, and having a suspended license. 

His next court date is March 9 at the Bridgeview Courthouse.

Evelyn Tapia, 33 of the 3800 block of West 64th Street, was stopped at 11:40 p.m. Jan. 4 for a lane violation in the 12000 block of South Oak Park Avenue when a subsequent investigation revealed the driver was impaired, police said.

He was charged with drunken driving.

His next court date is set for March 9 at the Bridgeview Courthouse.
