For more than a decade, Orland Ale House was a place where neighbors gathered to share drinks, stories and celebrations. That chapter will come to a close Dec. 31, 2025, when the longtime Orland Park bar shuts its doors after 11 years in business.
Located at 14225 S. 95th Ave., the establishment opened in December 2014 as the Brass Tap before leaving the franchise and rebranding as Orland Ale House in November 2022. Throughout its run, the bar became known for its welcoming atmosphere and steady presence in the community.
The closure of the establishment owned by Tom and Rita McMullen comes after slowed business, rising operating costs and an inability to reach terms on a new lease.
“We fought hard to adapt, but unfortunately sales have been down and costs have been up,” said General Manager Kris Muschler, a New Lenox resident. “We will miss everything about being here. We’ve had a great run and made lots of awesome friends along the way.”
Beyond daily service, Orland Ale House was deeply involved in community events across the village, building connections far beyond its walls.
“We’ve participated in so many events throughout Orland Park,” Muschler said. “Our favorites were always the Irish music trolley pub crawl for St. Patrick’s Day and the long, hot, but always fun weekends at the Taste of Orland.”
In a heartfelt Facebook post, the owners invited patrons to stop in before the final day. “Please come out and share a beer and fond memory with us,” the post read. “Over the last 11 years, starting as the Brass Tap and rebranding to the Orland Ale House, we have made so many great friends and want to see as many as possible.”
Despite efforts to adjust to post-pandemic challenges, management said economic pressures ultimately made continued operation unsustainable.
“We love Orland and thank everyone for all the years of support,” Muschler said. “From when we opened originally as the Brass Tap in 2014 to leaving the franchise and becoming the Orland Ale House, it’s been such a great journey. We’re thankful for everyone who supported us through it all.”
Owners announced that beginning Jan. 3, 2026, liquidation sales will be held for restaurant and bar equipment, including freezers, tables and patio furniture. A silent auction on signage will also be available.
After more than a decade of service, Orland Ale House leaves behind a legacy defined by community connection, shared traditions and friendships that will continue long after the final round is poured.
