Jesus “Jesse” Bernal passed away on Monday, December 15, 2025.
He was the beloved husband of 53 years to Frances Velazquez. Loving father of the late Joseph (Toni), Daniel (Kim), and Jessie (Pedro) Villarreal. Proud grandfather of Justin (Melanie), Brianna, Joaquin, and Ignacio, and cherished great-grandfather of Caleb, Jaxson, Sofia, Olivia, Oliver, and Easton. Dear brother of Juanita (the late Gary), the late Paul, Lupe (the late Don), Ralph Jr., and Mary (Jesse). Fond uncle to many nieces and nephews.
A truly happy-go-lucky soul, Jesus was affectionately known as “Uncle Jesse” by everyone. When he entered a room, he wasn’t just the life of the party—he was the party. Always joking, full of stories, and quick to make others laugh, he brought joy wherever he went. He loved his grandchildren deeply and took great pride in caring for them, guiding them with his humor, wisdom, and life experiences. He will be forever remembered and always loved.
Visitation will be held Friday, December 19, 2025, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Foran Funeral Home, 7300 W. Archer Ave. (55th Street just west of Harlem), with a Celebration of Life Service at 7:00 PM. Per his request, Jesse will be cremated.
