Mary Mackey, 56, of the 11700 block of Glenview Drive, Orland Park, was charged with driving under the influence, transportation of open alcohol, failure to reduce speed and driving without insurance December 6 after police responded to an accident in the 11900 block of West 143rd Street.
Police said Mackey was trapped inside a rolled-over vehicle. Police said they detected a “strong odor of alcohol” as they were extracting her from her vehicle.
When police asked Mackey what happened, she reportedly responded: “I don’t know.” Police said Mackey slurred her words while speaking and her eyes were glassy and bloodshot.
She later admitted to police that she had “two vodka drinks four hours ago.” While her car was being towed, police said they found an open bottle of vodka inside the vehicle.
