What began as a spark of creativity has grown into a community-centered movement rooted in light, healing and empowerment.
Krystal Anderson, CEO and owner of Marvelous Light Candle, opened her boutique candle-making studio May 18, 2024, at 9557 W. 144th Place in Orland Park. A resident of Monee, Anderson is the heart and visionary behind the south-suburban Chicago business, which blends handcrafted products with immersive creative experiences designed to bring people together.

“What I love most about my business is the ability to bring people together and create real, meaningful connections,” Anderson said. “I cherish the conversations I have daily, seeing people relax, open up and feel at home, like family. Creating a space that inspires purpose means everything to me.”
Marvelous Light Candle is both a studio and a lifestyle brand, offering all-natural, hand-poured soy candles along with room sprays, car sprays and diffusers featuring carefully curated fragrances. More than a retail space, the studio invites guests to slow down, reconnect and create through interactive candle, soap and perfume-making classes.
Each experience, Anderson said, goes beyond a traditional workshop.
“These classes are therapy through creativity,” she said. “They’re a safe space for joy, laughter and rediscovery.”
The studio also hosts date nights and group events, encouraging families, friends and loved ones to bond while creating something meaningful together. That philosophy is reflected in the studio’s motto: “Every candle tells a story—find the one that tells yours.”
Before stepping into full-time entrepreneurship, Anderson worked in corporate scheduling and project controls, managing multimillion-dollar projects. Despite professional success, she said she realized her true calling was building something that ignited both purpose and peace.
Inspired by faith and a desire to build generational wealth for her family, Anderson began making candles on weekends while working full time. She vended at events, connected with customers and often sold out. Within seven months, that side pursuit became a storefront, transforming an idea into a tangible reality.
“I value every part of the process — the growth, the lessons and even the moments that once felt like setbacks,” Anderson said. “Above all, I enjoy standing out, shining brightly and building something that is truly different from any other candle company.”
Marvelous Light Candle is open Tuesday through Sunday, with products available in-store and online at marvelouslightcandle.com.
Today, Anderson said her mission extends beyond candles, aiming to remind others that their light remains strong, even under pressure.
“Whether it’s through scent, self-care or storytelling,” she said, “my goal is to help others heal, create and grow in marvelous light.”
