Jacob Voltarel, 30, of the 700 block of Pinfield Drive, Beecher, was charged Dec. 2 with DUI after police said they found him talking to himself while behind the wheel of his car, which was rocking back and forth on Royal Glen Drive.

Police said they also saw Voltarel huffing from a white nitrous oxide canister before he placed it under the passenger seat. Officers found two nitrous oxide containers in his vehicle. His windshield wipers were running despite no rain or snow, police said.

When Voltarel exited the vehicle, he wore only one shoe and one sock, police said. He also told police he thought he was in Palos Hills.

When officers asked if he thought he was under the influence, Voltarel replied, “I believe so.”

He had a hearing at the Bridgeview Courthouse and was released.
