Countryside is getting a head start on the 100th birthday celebration for Route 66.
A car show is planned for June 6 as part of Countryside’s celebration of the 100th anniversary of Route 66.
Route 66, now called Joliet Road, runs through the city.
The car show will be held in the parking lot of IUOE Operating Engineers Local 150, at the southwest corner of Joliet and La Grange roads,
Ald. Scott Musillami (3rd) said, “It’s going to be a nice day” after the city council meeting on Nov. 12.
“At 12 o’clock they’ll start judging the cars. They’ll have a deejay there. At 4 o’clock we’ll have a band starting. There will be food trucks,” Musillami said.
Musillami heads the city council’s Special Events Committee.
