April 20, 1952 – November 21, 2025
Donna L. Werner, a cherished member of the Peotone community, passed away on November 21, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.
Donna dedicated many years of loyalty and excellence to her position as the Village Clerk of Peotone. Her commitment to advocating for the people of her town was distinguished and rooted in her responsible, generous nature. She worked to fulfill her duties and create personal connections that went beyond the office.
The townsfolk, friends, and especially her family were her greatest passions. She was a wonderful cook, who took pleasure in providing her family with holiday feasts among the daily meals in her home, where memories were made and cherished. She also fostered and held precious experiences with her loved ones at Pine Lake in Plainwell, Michigan, whether their time was spent skiing, boating, or relaxing. She was lovingly referred to as “Nonnie” by many, often coining the quote “Don’t tell anyone, but you’re my favorite.” She was a dear wife, mother, sister, aunt, and Nonnie, who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her devoted son, Joel Werner; brother, Gary Clausing; nieces, Mary Ann (Mike) Price and Paula (Tony Barrera) Cadieux; nephew, Brain (Heather) Clausing; great-nieces and great-nephews, Jennifer Price, Kayla (Dan) May, Kyle Price, Jade Cadieux, Megan Cadieux, and Colton Clausing; and two great-great-nephews, Jacob and Henry Sullivan.
Donna was preceded in death by her loving husband Gary Werner; parents Homer and Elouise (nee Martin) Clausing; sister Cheryl Ingerson; infant brother, John Clausing; brother-in-law, Jim Ingerson; sisters-in-law, Connie Clausing and Cindy Clausing; and her sweet, silly cat, Stevie.
Funeral services were held on Monday, December 1, at Forsythe Gould Funeral Home, with burial immediately following at Peotone Cemetery.
Arrangements were entrusted to Forsythe Gould Funeral Home in Manhattan; www.forsythegouldfh.com.
