Amber A. Thiel, a devoted mother, grandmother, and beloved partner, passed away unexpectedly. She was the loving mother of Janice (Brian) Anderson and the late Joseph Robert Wells, and the proud grandmother of Brooke Anderson, Alexis Anderson, Brittany Wells, Damien Hartke, and Alex Wheeler.
Amber was the dear sister of Gloria (George) Radcliffe, Naomi (the late Lewis) Thompson, Steve (Maria) Chmelovsky, and Robert (Carey) Chmelovsky. She shared 23 years with her partner, Audrius “Odie” Baitaragis, and was a fond cousin to Dennis, Richie, Ronnie, and the late Ray. She will also be remembered fondly by her many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Charlotte Oleski.
Amber was a strong-willed, hardworking woman who sacrificed much to provide for her children. Nothing meant more to her than her children and grandchildren, and the love and lessons she shared with them will endure forever.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2025, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Foran Funeral Home, 7300 W. Archer Ave. (55th Street just west of Harlem), and Thursday from 9 a.m. until the Celebration of Life service at 11 a.m. Per her wishes, Amber will be cremated and later buried with her son.
