The Village of Stickney honored three firefighters at its Nov. 4 board meeting for their service and achievements.

Fire Chief Jeff Boyajian presented Lt. Dominic Lovino with a plaque recognizing 25 years of distinguished service and Firefighter Franklin Maldonado with a plaque for five years of service. Deputy Chief Jon O’Dowd received a certificate for his nomination as Training Officer of the Year.

Lovino also received an award from the 2024 100 Club of Illinois Inaugural BBQ Cook Off, where he won the chicken division with his “Son of a Peach” grilled chicken thighs.

“The 100 Club of Illinois is a nonprofit organization that helps raise money for fallen firefighters and police officers in Illinois,” Boyajian said.

Mayor Jeff Walik and village officials joined the ceremony. The firefighters received a standing ovation from the audience.
