Orland Park trustees moved forward with plans Monday night for a planned unit development on 9.5 acres located at 14137 S. 108th Avenue.

The village board voted 6-1 to approve the plan commission’s recommendation for the detached homes with prices starting in the high six figures.

Richard Turk LLC., the developer who built the Crystal Tree subdivision, petitioned the village board to build 20 upscale single-family homes in the Bridlewood residential planned development community.

Mayor Jim Dodge said the village has a “strong demand for this type of project.”

“This sets the standard for using open space,” he said. “This is an attractive development.”

Trustee Cynthia Nelson-Katsenes cast the lone dissenting vote saying she wanted to see more parking spaces allocated for the development.

“My concern is there will be a lack of parking, especially when there is no street parking,” she said. “There will be a greater need for parking on various holidays.”

Each of the homes will have a two-car garage as well as space on the driveways for two additional cars. There will also be guest parking for up to 14 vehicles in a separate designated parking space.

Other changes from the original proposal include: relocating the walking path away from the Old Tamarack neighborhood and shifting it between houses (12 and 13); adding/relocating 18 evergreen trees along the south and east boundaries to strengthen year-round screening and reducing the speed limit in the area from the proposed 30 mph to 25 mph.
