Ludwika Strama (née Janik), 88, of Oak Lawn, died peacefully Nov. 13, 2025.
She was born June 3, 1937, in Maruszyna, Poland. Her life was marked by deep Catholic faith, resilience and a commitment to family. She later immigrated to the United States, where she built a loving home and became the matriarch of a large, close-knit family.
She was the beloved wife of the late Wladyslaw Strama.
Ludwika was the cherished mother of Helena (Waclaw) Galdyn, Zofia Raczka (Jan Strama), Bogumila (Jan) Hodorowicz, Joseph Strama, Katarzyna (Stanislaw) Kuruc and Stanislaw Strama.
She was the loving grandmother of Steve (Urszula) Galdyn; Aneta Gallardo; Marcin Galdyn; Malgorzata; Andrzej; Erick; Kathryn; Magdalena (Coy) Hines; Kinga (Phil) Swistowicz; Natalia (Quinn); Michael; Joshua; Olivia; Otylia; Barbara (Janusz) Szwajnos; Marcin (Chanel) Kuruc; Monika (Rafal) Blachut; Agnes Kuruc; Nicholas; Matthew; and Emily.
She was the proud great-grandmother of Jakub; Victoria (Izak) MacNabb; Claudia; Izabel; Camila; Antonio; Julian; Magdalena; Gabriella; Krystian; Anjelika; Adrian; Ashton; Karim; Alex; Mateusz; Karolinka; Ciena; Liam; Dominic; Nicholas; and Conrad.
Ludwika will be remembered for her kindness, quiet strength and the unwavering faith that guided her life. She touched many with her compassion and was a source of support, guidance and love for her family.
