Tractor Supply Company’s Monee location is coming along. Village Trustee Michael Wilson said, during last week’s board meeting, the store is on-track to open in February 2026. The building is under construction at 5543 W. Monee-Manhattan Road.
“The walls are up, and the roofing structure will begin soon, so that the building can be enclosed before winter,” Wilson said. “So, we’re still anticipating an early February opening.
“Most of the mostly-dead trees at Monee-Manhattan and Governors Highway in front of the large retention pond will be removed to make way for new landscaping around the pond, in spring.
“In the next month, our economic development director will post a link for anyone interested in employment with TSC. So things are looking good.”
Tractor Supply Company is known as a farm-oriented store, but it offers much more.
It does not actually sell tractors, but it does have tractor parts and accessories, automotive parts, sporting goods, clothing, pet supplies, lawn and garden supplies, sprinkler parts, power tools, fencing, welding and pump supplies and riding mowers.
TSC also is an advocate for finding homes for dogs, cats, and other pets.
The Village of New Lenox has a very successful Tractor Supply Company store on Laraway Road.
Continuing his report to the village board, Trustee Wilson said,
“On a more somber note, Schoop’s Hamburgers…Mark and Patti (Mantel), as I’m sure everyone has heard, after 20 years in the business, they have decided it was time to retire.”
The Mantels are known for their generosity to community organizations, especially the Monee Police Department and the Monee Historical Society, always assisting in their fundraisers.
“We speak for the entire community in thanking them for all they’ve done and all their hard work and commitment, not only to the community, but to everyone they’ve touched.
“It was always nice to have a sit-down restaurant we could patronize.
“So Economic Development Director Bill Barnes is working with the plaza owners to find another quality sit-down restaurant. It has begun – last week with the first showing (of the building). So, hopefully, we’ll have a second-best (soon).”
