Mark Edward Svoboda passed away peacefully on October 29, 2025, at his home in Plainfield, Illinois, after a courageous battle with metastatic pancreatic cancer. Born on June 22, 1961, in Chicago, Mark’s zest for life and unwavering optimism touched everyone he met throughout his 64 years.
Mark’s life was a testament to love, resilience, and dedication. He was the beloved husband of Donna, with whom he shared a beautiful and enduring partnership, and the devoted father of his two daughters, Jessica and Nicol. Mark also embraced his role as a father figure to many others, including his son-in-law Ian and Jessica’s friends Emily and Briana.
Family was at the heart of Mark’s world. He was a cherished brother to Dennis, Ralph, and Joe Svoboda, and sister-in-law Linda. His nieces and nephews—Dave, Mary Beth, Joe, Kristen, Sue, John, Leslie, Anthony, and Cari—each held a special place in his heart. Every family gathering was brighter because of Mark’s humor, kindness, and easygoing spirit.
Professionally, Mark was a dedicated field service technician for HP, where his expertise, integrity, and work ethic earned deep respect from colleagues and clients alike. He was known for his willingness to help others and for mentoring younger technicians in his field. His involvement in professional associations allowed him to form lasting friendships and to share his knowledge generously.
Outside of work, Mark found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid geocacher, relishing the thrill of discovery and the chance to explore the outdoors. He loved fishing, finding peace and connection with nature on the water. A true handyman, Mark could fix or tinker with anything, often turning small problems into creative projects.
Mark will be remembered for his optimism, warmth, and generous heart. His laughter and can-do spirit inspired those around him, and his legacy of love, humor, and perseverance will live on in the countless lives he touched.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to Mark’s Purple Stride team in support of pancreatic cancer research and patient care: support.pancan.org/goto/winningstride.
