Crave Cookies & Soda brought a little extra sweetness to Oak Lawn on Wednesday, Nov. 5, as the bakery celebrated its festive ribbon-cutting. The new shop, which opened a few months ago and joined the Oak Lawn Chamber of Commerce last month, is quickly becoming a community favorite.

Crave is owned by brothers Yousef Abdelkader, of Burbank, and Soufian Abdelkader, of Orland Park.

“We grew up here in Oak Lawn,” Soufian said. “We love the area. It’s a great hub for Middle Eastern culture.”

Yousef agreed, adding, “This is home for us and we are very excited to be in the Oak Lawn community.”

The owners said the business is eager to connect with neighbors and Chamber members. Crave Cookies & Soda recently participated in the October Oak Lawn Public Library Touch-a-Truck event, handing out free samples, and provided dessert at the Chamber’s October member luncheon.

All cookies at Crave are baked fresh daily. Fan favorites include the Dubai Chocolate, Crave Chocolate Chip, Salted Caramel Reese’s, and the indulgent Brookie — chocolate dough loaded with milk chocolate chips and semi-sweet chocolate chunks, dusted with powdered sugar. There are also gluten-free options, including Chocolate Chip. Guests can enjoy the treats alongside loaded sodas, coffee, and more.

Oak Lawn Mayor Terry Vorderer and Chamber members joined the celebration, officially welcoming the bakery to the neighborhood at 6322 W. 95th Street.
“You’re going to be very successful — everybody loves a cookie,” Vorderer said.
