Victoria Ramirez, who graced this earth for 95 years, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family.
Victoria and her husband, Raul, were both born in Texas and raised in Agualeguas, Nuevo León, Mexico, where they met and fell in love. They married in 1951 and moved to Chicago in the fall of 1952 to begin their family. While Raul worked hard to provide, Victoria devoted herself to raising their nine children and managing a lively household with grace and dedication.
She was an excellent cook and the best “director of operations” for her home. Victoria loved to dance and listen to Mexican norteñas and rancheras, her joy and rhythm filling every family gathering. Family was at the heart of her life — as the beloved matriarch of the Ramirez family, she found her greatest pride in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
As the second oldest of nine siblings, Victoria also helped raise her brothers and sisters, forming deep lifelong bonds. She touched countless lives with her gracious and giving spirit, living each day with love, courage, dignity, and pride. Though her presence will be deeply missed, her family takes comfort in knowing she lived a long, blessed life and is now reunited with her beloved husband, Raul, who preceded her in death in 2015 after 64 years of marriage.
Victoria was the cherished mother of Arminda (Everardo) Saldaña, the late Raul Ramirez Jr., Rudolfo Ramirez, Jose Carmen Ramirez, Maria Victoria Ramirez, Jose Luis (Helen) Ramirez, David Ramirez (and daughter-in-law Margarita), Raulene (Jose) Villanueva, and Norma (Reynaldo) Valdez. Devoted grandmother of Edgardo (Lety) Saldaña, the late Everardo “Baby” Saldaña, Anthony Ramirez, Joseph Ramirez, David Ramirez Jr., Erica Ramirez, Jose Eduardo Villanueva, Sandra Villanueva, Victoria Villanueva, Enrique Valdez, and Reina Valdez; and proud great-grandmother of Adam and Nylah Saldaña, Liam Ramirez, and Levy and Vida Ramirez.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Librado and Carmen Villarreal, and will be dearly missed by her many siblings, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Visitation will be held Thursday, November 6, 2025, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Foran Funeral Home, 7300 W. Archer Ave. (55th Street just west of Harlem).
