A 17-year-old youth was shot and killed Sunday night while working at a Burger King restaurant in the Archer Heights neighborhood, Chicago police said.
The teen was identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office as Rodrigo Franco, of Chicago.
Police said a Jeep SUV pulled up to the restaurant in the 4000 block of South Pulaski Road just after 7 p.m. and someone inside the SUV fired shots, striking Franco, who was working inside the restaurant.
Police said Franco was shot in the head. He was taken in critical condition to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The SUV fled the scene in an unknown direction.
No one is in custody. Area One detectives are investigating.
Police did not immediately provide further information about the shooting.
Franco was a senior at Currie High School.
The family has established a gofundme account with a goal of $6,500 to help pay for funeral arrangements. It had collected more than $4,500 as of Monday night.
