A gofundme account for a Bridgeview man killed last week at the Oswego Chick-fil-A has raised more than $20,000 as of Sunday

Peter Burke, of Tinley Park, a co-worker of Tracey J. Land, 52, at the Martin-Brower delivery company started the gofundme account for Land’s family.

Land, 52, of Bridgeview, was making a delivery in the early morning hours on Oct. 22 when he was brutally attacked and killed. A 20-year-old maintenance worker was injured later in a separate attack at the restaurant. He remains in stable condition at a local hospital.

Darryl Lee Jr., 19, of Kankakee, has been charged with 11 felony counts in the attacks.

“This was an unprovoked attack and resulted in a tragic loss of life,” Oswego Police Chief Jason Bastin said in a release. “Our hearts go out to the victims, their families, and everyone affected by this tragic incident.”

According to the Kendall County State’s Attorney’s Office, Lee faces 11 felony charges, including first degree murder, attempted first degree murder and concealment of homicidal death. He was ordered to be held at a court appearance on Friday.

Police said they responded to the restaurant about 5 a.m. Wednesday for a report of a stabbing in progress.

Upon arrival, officers said they found Lee being restrained by two maintenance workers. They immediately took him into custody and began providing medical aid to an injured maintenance worker.

Based on statements made by Lee, officers conducted a sweep of the restaurant and found Land. He was pronounced dead on the scene, police said. An autopsy found Land suffered multiple traumatic injuries.

Investigators say Land was making a delivery about 3:10 a.m. when Lee broke into the building and attacked Land with a hammer and knife. Police said Lee remained inside the restaurant and attempted to clean-up the crime scene.

About 4:56 a.m., Lee left the restaurant and ran into maintenance workers outside who were unaware of the incident. Lee then attacked one of the maintenance workers, stabbing him from behind with a knife, police said.

The worker and his mother, who was also working at the restaurant, were able to subdue Lee.

“The Oswego Police Department would like to acknowledge the courageous acts of these two workers, a son and a mother, which resulted in the capture of the offender,” the release said.

  1. I don’t think the 19 year old face should be posted on the Ho Find me page vs having the victims face here.

  2. Yes, teh face of the criminal and victim should be published whenever possible. Some people can’t handle truth.
