A Worth man was arrested by Oak Lawn police this week after officers responded to reports of an attempted burglar at a condominium in the 10900 block of Keating Avenue.
On October 19, 2025, at approximately 4:30 p.m., a caller reported that a Black male suspect had attempted to open her window but fled upon being observed. Officers conducted a search of the area while interviewing the victim.
Shortly thereafter, a second victim from the same condominium complex approached officers, reporting he had been robbed at gunpoint by a masked Black male. The suspect had forcibly entered the victim’s unit, confined him to a bathroom, and attempted to escape using the victim’s vehicle with stolen property inside.
An officer on scene identified a suspect matching the description and pursued him into a nearby building but temporarily lost sight. A perimeter was established, and a police drone was deployed to assist in the search. The suspect, later identified as Demarkus Ross, 34, was apprehended approximately one block away.
Ross was found in possession of jewelry and other items stolen from the condominium, as well as the victim’s car key. His last known address is in the 7200 block of West 111th Street, Worth. Ross has a prior criminal record including arrests for theft, criminal trespass, and resisting arrest.
Following his arrest, Oak Lawn detectives said they secured a confession from Ross. Based on the confession and collected evidence, the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office filed felony charges against him. Ross faces charges of Home Invasion with a Firearm, Kidnapping while Armed with a Firearm, and Armed Robbery, all Class X felonies.
Ross was ordered to be held at Cook County Jail. He has two court dates scheduled for Nov. 12 and Dec. 22 at the Bridgeview Courthouse.
