Maynor Vasquez Gomez, 26, of the 13200 block of South Brandon Avenue in the Hegewisch community, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder after police found him running near the scene of a fatal shooting at 3:09 a.m. Oct. 12 in the 6400 block of South Spaulding Avenue.
About an hour earlier, a 23-year-old man was fatally shot in the chest during an argument in a yard in the 6400 block of South Fairfield Avenue.
Police detained Vasquez Gomez because he matched the gunman’s description. The victim’s identity was not disclosed.
