Jaroslaw “Jerry” Zalewski, 59, passed away peacefully on Oct. 4, 2025, in Chicago. Born on Sept. 23, 1966, in Poland, Jerry was known for his easy smile, big heart, and the way he made everyone feel welcome.
He grew up in Poland with a strong pride in his heritage—something he carried with him throughout his life. After moving to Chicago, he built a second home filled with love, laughter, and lifelong friendships, all while staying deeply connected to his Polish roots.
Family meant everything to him. He was the devoted son of Boguslawa and Piotr Zalewski, caring brother of Pawel Zalewski, loving husband of Danuta Lawnicka, proud father of Oliver Zalewski and Camille Joly, and cherished grandfather of Bennett Joly. To his family and friends, Jerry was a steady source of love, support, and laughter—a man whose presence made life brighter.
Jerry loved the water and the outdoors, finding joy in boating, skiing, and the peaceful calm of nature. He was the life of every gathering—first on the dance floor and last to leave. As owner of Diesel Depot, he poured his heart into his work, treating customers and employees like family.
Jerry will be remembered for his generosity, kindness, and unwavering spirit. His warmth, laughter, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
