On September 30, Peotone Police were dispatched to the area of S. Governors Highway and W. Wilmington-Peotone Road, after reports of a black Mitsubishi Mirage weaving in traffic and nearly striking two oncoming vehicles. Officers responded, but the vehicle was gone upon arrival. The area was checked thoroughly, and officers continued to monitor the location during the next several days; however, the vehicle was not located, and no additional calls were received.
On October 1, Peotone Police were requested by Park Forest Police to check the 500 block of Schroeder Avenue for a grey Chevrolet Trax, reportedly wanted in connection with a domestic battery. As officers arrived, the vehicle was observed leaving southbound on Schroeder Avenue. Officers attempted a traffic stop after the vehicle turned westbound onto Wilmington Road. The driver abruptly accelerated and fled, traveling at an excessive speed, passing vehicles in a no-passing zone, and driving westbound in the eastbound lanes. For the safety of the community, Peotone Officers terminated the pursuit. The suspect vehicle was last seen northbound on I-57 at a high rate of speed. Details were broadcast on the statewide police radio network. The investigation remains active with the Park Forest Police Department.
On October 2, Peotone Officers responded to the report of a domestic disturbance, in the 400 block of S. Third Street. A female caller stated her husband, who was intoxicated, forced entry through the back door after being locked out of the residence. Upon arrival, officers spoke with both parties who confirmed the incident was verbal only. No physical injuries or marks were observed. The male agreed to stay in the garage for the night, and no further police assistance was required.
Community Safety Reminder: Farm Equipment on Roadways
At this time of year, motorists should expect to see slow-moving farm equipment, known as implements of husbandry, on local roads. The Peotone Police Department reminds drivers to:
•Be patient and avoid aggressive passing.
•Slow down immediately when approaching farm equipment; these vehicles typically travel at 15 – 25 mph.
•Watch for wide equipment that may extend into adjacent lanes or shoulders.
•Look for the orange triangular Slow Moving Vehicle (SMV) emblem displayed on the rear of farm equipment.
•Use caution when passing. Ensure there is ample clear roadway and never pass on hills, curves, or in no-passing zones.
Farmers and motorists alike share responsibility for roadway safety. Your patience helps ensure everyone gets home safely during harvest season.

I love you country
