The Children’s Farm at The Center turned into a hub of autumn celebration this past weekend as families flocked to its annual Pumpkin Days festival.
The two-day event, held Saturday, Sept. 20, and Sunday, Sept. 21, offered a mix of outdoor activities designed to capture the spirit of the season. Visitors explored Pumpkin Playland, where barns opened to showcase chickens, goats, cows, sheep and other animals.

Beyond the barnyard, families enjoyed hayrides, a spooky woodshed, a hay bale climb, a corn box and a winding maze. The U-pick pumpkin patch was a popular stop for those looking to bring a piece of the festival home.
For many, it was a first-time visit.
“I was really looking forward to this — we’ve been wanting to come here for a long time,” said Brittany Bibeau, of Frankfort, who attended with her family. “I wanted to show my kids all the animals and crafts.”
Others came at the request of their children.
Kylie Kosteck, of Orland Park, attended with her 2-year-old son, Blake. “When I asked my son what he wanted to do today, he said that he wanted to see animals.”
Adding to the festive atmosphere, live music entertained crowds throughout opening weekend.
Located at 12700 Southwest Highway in Palos Park, The Children’s Farm will continue to host Pumpkin Days from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each weekend through October. Admission is $15 for visitors ages 2 and older.
