Thomas E. “Tom” Havlicek, a longtime City of Chicago employee and Clearing community resident, died peacefully with his family at his side.
Havlicek was the husband of Virginia, nee Alvarez, and the father of Andrew (Kaytee) Havlicek. He was the brother of Kenneth (Laura) Havlicek and Karen (Troy) Guthrie, and the uncle of Carl, Mark and Kelly. He was the son of Marjorie and the late Richard C. Havlicek.
He worked for the City of Chicago for many years, most recently at Midway Airport. Family described him as hardworking, compassionate and friendly, with a smile that lit up a room.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Foran Funeral Home, 7300 W. Archer Ave., Justice. Visitation continues at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday until prayers at 9:30 a.m. A funeral Mass will follow at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 6435 S. Kilbourn Ave., Chicago. Burial will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Alsip.
