Two new officers were sworn in as full-time members of the Forest View Police Department during the Sept. 9 village board meeting.

Village Clerk Laura McGuffey administered the oath at the start of the meeting.

Police Chief Bianel Zarate said he was proud to welcome the officers.

“On September 5, after 16 weeks of training, Officer Shane Miller graduated from the Southwestern Illinois Police Academy in Belleville, Illinois. Officer Miller began his field training program with our department on September 8,” he said.

Miller grew up in Forest View and is the son of former Mayor Nancy Miller.

“Officer Jonathan Rodriguez joined the Forest View Police Department as a part-time officer in 2024 before being hired full-time. Prior to joining our department, Officer Rodriguez served for one year as a part-time officer with the Village of Stone Park Police Department. He graduated from the Nemrt (North East Multi-Regional Training) part-time academy in 2024.”

Mayor David Liska, trustees, fellow officers and community members congratulated both officers during the ceremony.
